– 2018 is the first year in a long time that really has many good opportunities to maximize your vacation. The Christmas holidays are coming in a better way than in a long time, where by taking just 2 vacation days you get 11 days of continuous vacation, while if you take 5 vacation days you get a full 16 days of vacation, says Katarina Daniels, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
More and more Swedes are making the dream of celebrating Christmas and New Year with sand between their toes a reality, and trips are already being booked for next Christmas. But in 2018, it will be possible to take longer, continuous vacations over significantly more weekends than just the Christmas holidays. Easter is a popular weekend to travel to warmer climes because vacationers always get 10 days off when taking 4 days of vacation, or 16 days off if they take 8 vacation days. But this year, you can get just as good a return by taking 8 vacation days in conjunction with May Day and Ascension Day, since both days fall on a weekday.
– The Easter holiday week, along with the sports and autumn holiday weeks, are very popular travel periods. Just don't forget to make the most of the other public holidays as well. May Day, Ascension Day and National Day are perfect travel opportunities, as few holiday days provide longer continuous time off, Katarina Daniels advises.

Easter: 10 days off (take 4 vacation days, March 26-29 or April 3-6) or 16 days off (take 8 vacation days, March 26-29 and April 3-6).
May Day: 4 days off (take 1 vacation day April 30) or 9 days off (take 4 vacation days, April 30 and May 2-4)
Ascension of Christ: 4 days off (take 1 vacation day May 11) or 9 days off (take 4 vacation days, May 7, 8, 9 and 11)
Both May Day and Ascension Day: 16 days off (take 8 vacation days, April 30, and May 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11)
National Day: 5 days off (take 2 vacation days, June 4-5 or June 7-8) or 9 days off (take 4 vacation days, June 4, 5, 7 and 8)
Midsummer: 9 days off (take 4 vacation days, June 18-21)
Christmas & New Year: 11 days off (take 2 vacation days, December 27-28) or 16 days off (take 5 vacation days, December 27-28 and January 2-4)
