Hungarian airline Wizz Air continues to expand from Malmö Airport. Next year, a new direct route to the Austrian capital, Vienna, will open. The new route is scheduled to premiere on March 22, 2019, and will then fly between the cities four times a week.
Centrally located in Europe, with the Danube gurgling through the city, lies Vienna. The capital city associated with sweeping waltzes and grand opera balls, beautiful buildings and a rich café culture will be Wizz Air's first destination in Austria from Sweden.
Of course, we also hope for many new visitors who, with a short travel time, can explore scenic Skåne and Malmö city, which is teeming with good restaurants and cozy cafes, says Peter Weindhandl, airport manager at Malmö Airport.
“Just nine months after opening our new base in Vienna, we are expanding our operations with 27 new direct routes. We are creating new opportunities for Austrian travelers to visit some of the most beautiful cities and regions in Europe,” said George Michalopoulos, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air.
The flight time between Malmö and Vienna is estimated to be approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes and departures will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
