Police mountain rescuers are searching for six people who have been reported missing at Kebnekaise.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency warns of a high avalanche danger in the area, reports NSD.

Six French people are now being searched by mountain rescuers after being reported missing on Sunday.
At lunchtime, the group, three men and three women, left Nikkaluokta to ski to Kebnekaise mountain station.
When they did not arrive in the evening, the staff called the police.
During the evening and night, about ten snowmobile-borne mountain rescuers searched the area.
– We have mountain rescuers out to check the route to see if they are stuck. It is quite harsh weather with wind and snow, says Mats Andersson, RLC commander at the North Police Region.
”Hope to be able to help from the sky”
On Sunday, the weather was too severe to search by helicopter.
– We hope it will calm down so that we can get help from the sky, says Mats Andersson.
”Not good conditions”
He says that of those who came to Kebnekaise mountain station on Sunday, some have had minor frostbite due to the wind.
– So the conditions are not good, says Mats Andersson.

– We can only hope that they are found well preserved, says Mats Andersson.
On Monday morning, the group had not yet been found.
– It is still a major search effort and we will be bringing in new mountain rescuers and also police personnel to lead the search effort. It is still unclear whether we can use a police helicopter, says Johan Aittamaa, RLC commander.
