Boeing is reportedly close to securing a major aircraft order from American Airlines.

The aircraft model is the Boeing 787, which competes with the Airbus A330neo. Sources say that American is looking for between 25 and 30 aircraft, which corresponds to a contract value of between $7 billion and $8.5 billion for Boeing.
If the deal goes through, it would also be a victory for General Electric, which will supply the model with aircraft engines instead of competitor Rolls-Royce. It would also be the second time in a short time that Boeing's 787 has won over the A330neo, as Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that it had chosen to exchange six A330neos for the 787.
Airbus' new sales chief Eric Schulz has stated that improving sales of the A330neo is a top priority for the aircraft manufacturer.
