The test with self-driving buses in Kista in Stockholm is to be expanded.
This summer, there will be more buses and tests will be conducted where the speed will be increased from 12 to 20 kilometers per hour, reports SVT Nyheter.
Since January, the two electric buses have been operating a one and a half kilometer route between Kista Galleria and Victoria Tower. A customer service representative has been on board.
”"We have tested during a difficult season with a lot of snow and it has exceeded expectations," says Peter Hafmar, CEO of Nobina Technology, which operates the buses, to SVT.
According to SVT, researchers at the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, have conducted surveys on how passengers react. The researchers have so far received positive reactions.
The fatal accident involving a self-driving car in Arizona, USA, has not had any impact. Soon, self-driving buses will also be trialled in Gothenburg.
