Peter Ahlgren, CEO of FlixBus Sweden: ”With Swebus in our network, we will innovate bus travel in Sweden.
We see great potential to expand the Swedish travel network by combining our services with Swebus' many years of market experience. We will work hard to ensure that FlixBus meets the expectations of previous customers and hope that our future offers will attract even more people to travel with our green buses.”
Magnus Rosén, CEO and President of Nobina: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with FlixBus, an international and rapidly growing travel company that can continue to develop the interregional express bus market. A good solution for all parties that is in line with Nobina's strategy to develop the contract business and the best solutions for public transport.”
Technology and startups meet local market knowledge
The FlixBus business model is based on an internationally unique collaboration with local industry. FlixBus currently works with 250 bus partners across Europe, many of which are smaller, family-owned companies. Over the years, these collaborations have helped create 7,000 driver jobs. FlixBus handles ticket sales, customer service, network planning, the technological platform, and marketing and sales. Local partners are responsible for day-to-day operations. By creating synergies from both innovation and tradition, FlixBus has designed Europe's largest long-distance bus network with both intercity and international connections. The FlixBus travel network spans 27 countries, 1,700 destinations and has transported over 100 million passengers since its launch in 2013.
FlixBus began offering domestic connections in Sweden in 2017 by partnering with several local bus companies. Last year, passengers could choose between 25 stops in Sweden and international trips to Norway, Denmark and Germany. During its first year of operation, FlixBus has managed to continuously increase the number of passengers through organic growth. By combining Swebus' experience and FlixBus' technological platform, a new generation of service standards is being created.
Peter Ahlgren, CEO of FlixBus: “From the beginning, FlixBus’s vision was to renew the established bus industry and to give it a fresh and new perspective. Five years later, this vision has spread to 27 countries. FlixBus still continues to drive innovation forward – France has just received the world’s first fully electric long-distance buses, Google Assistant has been introduced in the booking process in 3 languages and more news is planned in the coming months. We expect great synergies by combining our startup spirit with Swebus” local expertise.”
