
The card company Visa has suffered major technical problems, which meant that millions of their customers in Europe had difficulty using their cards.
The error was discovered on Friday afternoon.
Cardholders across Europe have tweeted that their cards have not worked, The Guardian reports.
Late that evening, Visa announced that the cards were working again. According to the company, the major technical problems were due to a hardware error.
The problems affected, among others, Swedish Visa customers.
Some of our customers are experiencing problems with card payments. We have been informed that this is due to a disruption at Visa, Nordea's press manager Afroditi Kellberg told TT earlier this evening.
Bank Skandia's customers also had problems. On the company's Facebook page, many customers reported that their cards were not working.
