Uber may make a bid for the bike sharing service Motivate, despite recently acquiring Jump, which operates in the same industry.

Axios reports that ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Lyft intend to expand their offerings in cities, which include various means of transportation such as bicycles or scooters.

Finwire reported last week, citing the online newspaper The Information, that Uber competitor Lyft is close to acquiring Motivate in a deal reportedly worth at least $250 million.

Motivate, which is behind services such as CitiBike in New York and Ford GoBike in San Francisco, reported last month that 3.18 million people had ridden the company's bikes.
