Takeoffs and landings were halted at three in the afternoon and lasted for almost an hour due to a severe thunderstorm with hail and storms.
Train traffic in central Germany has also been stopped due to the risk of falling trees.
The German weather service has issued a hurricane warning for the North Sea coast for the night. Wind speeds of around 30 meters per second are expected.
