The American aerospace and defense giant Boeing sees potential to globally sell 2,600 TX-type training aircraft, which the company has developed together with the Swedish defense company Saab.

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg said this during a conference call after the company's interim report, according to Bloomberg News.

On Tuesday, Saab CEO Håkan Buskhe told Dagens Industri that Saab could sell 2,000 TX-type training aircraft with Boeing over the next 25 years.

”"Our scope is 2,000 aircraft over 20-25 years," the Saab boss reasoned regarding the potential.

According to Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing can count on revenue from the TX for several decades. The training aircraft will be a project for much of the current century, he claimed.

Countries' interest in training aircraft stems from a great need for aircraft that are cheaper to fly than real fighter jets.

The US recently ordered around 350 TX trainer aircraft. Prior to the announcement, there had been talk in the media that the US had the ambition to replace a total of 1,000 trainer aircraft.
