Winter trips to the sun are decreasing

Travel during the winter months to sun and warmth appears to be decreasing, thus breaking an upward trend that has lasted for several years, reports

SVT News. Flight bookings fell by 10–15 percent during the winter months this year, according to statistics from travel agency Tickets. In the previous two or three years, air travel has increased by around ten percent per year. The reason for the decrease is not believed to be that more people are thinking about the climate.

”"I think it has to do with the warm summer. Many people made the most of their vacation days then, precisely because the weather was so nice," says Katarina Daniels, communications manager at the travel agency, to SVT.

At the same time, a weak Swedish krona and a shaky housing market may have affected travel.
