Airline's massive mistake: 95 percent discount on business class tickets

The airline Cathay Pacific made a costly mistake when it recently put flights between Vietnam and New York up for sale.

Tickets in business class, which normally cost 16,000 dollars return, were mistakenly sold for 675 dollars, according to the BBC.

The airline admits it made a mistake, but those who managed to buy tickets for the August trips hit the jackpot. Cathay Pacific states that it has no plans to withdraw the tickets or demand further payment from the buyers.

The approach otherwise differs among airlines that have accidentally set the wrong price for their tickets. While Singapore Airlines approved tickets in 2014 that had been mistakenly sold for less than half price, the American airline United chose the following year to cancel transatlantic flight tickets that were sold for under $100.
