The airline's cost-cutting measures have created anger among staff and the Spanish pilots' union is now threatening to strike, writes the Financial Times.

”"Norwegian must be clear about our future and we will not hesitate to mobilize if necessary, as the dissatisfaction and uncertainty in our groups is increasing every day," said the Sepla union regarding Norwegian's planned closure of six air bases, three of which are in Spain.

According to the union, Norwegian lacks "objective reasons" to close the bases and is therefore demanding that the airline make commitments to maintain the pilots' jobs and working conditions.

Norwegian says in a comment to the newspaper that the warnings about strikes have not been formally conveyed to the company, and that it therefore does not comment on them.
