The bankruptcy of the British airline Flybmi means that eleven departures per week from Norrköping to Munich, Germany, will cease.
It is a very hard blow for the municipally owned Norrköping Airport.
”"This has a huge impact on us. Now we are losing all scheduled traffic," says Bertil Skärblom, marketing and sales manager at the airport, according to SVT News East.
”"We will immediately start finding an alternative flight down to Europe," he continues.
On weekdays, two flights have departed per day to Munich, and one flight on Saturdays. This potentially means just over 2,000 passengers per month.
Flybmi – which also served Karlstad and Jönköping in Sweden – announced on Saturday that it had gone bankrupt and that all flights were being cancelled. Brexit and higher fuel costs were cited as two decisive reasons.
