Two pilots in the United States have previously warned of problems with the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft model, reports the AP news agency.

It is the same aircraft model as the one involved in the crashes in Indonesia in October and in Egypt on Sunday. A total of 346 people died in both crashes.

The pilots have stated that the planes plunged shortly after they engaged the autopilot. In both cases, the pilots regained control of the planes and straightened them out after the autopilot was disengaged. The two safety reports, which came last year, are voluntary and anonymous.

According to the pilots' statements, the plane's computer system is not the cause of the problems.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) announced on Tuesday evening that all flights with the Boeing 737 Max 8 model will be stopped following Sunday's crash in Ethiopia. The announcement came after several countries and airlines decided earlier in the day to stop using the aircraft model. In the United States, however, the FAA continues to allow flights with the Boeing plane.
