An aircraft of the accident model Boeing 737 Max 8 ended up in emergency mode during an unmanned flight in the United States on Tuesday.

The Southwest Airlines plane had taken off from Orlando Airport in Florida and was headed to California. After making an emergency call, it was able to land safely at the airport it came from, the US Federal Aviation Administration said.

The airline intended to relocate the plane.

A spokesperson Boeing says the company is aware of the incident and is in contact with its customer Southwest.

Two aircraft of the same model have been involved in crashes in a short period of time, killing almost 350 people: one in Ethiopia earlier this month and one in Indonesia in October last year.

The US Federal Aviation Administration has halted all flights with these aircraft, but is allowing unmanned redeployments.
