Another lawsuit has been filed against American airline Boeing. This time, it is a Kenyan family who lost a son in the Ethiopian Airlines crash on March 10th.
Previously, a group of shareholders and about ten families filed lawsuits against the airline after two Boeing planes of the same model were involved in crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia in a short period of time.
The Kabau family, who filed the lawsuit, now wants Boeing to release all documents and emails related to the 737 Max 8 model.
Boeing has confirmed that a fault in the aircraft's emergency system was behind the crashes, which claimed a total of 346 lives. Boeing received safety reports last year from pilots who said the aircraft model plunged shortly after the autopilot was activated. In both cases, the pilots regained control of the planes and managed to straighten them out after the autopilot was disengaged.
Shortly after the accident in Ethiopia on March 10, the Boeing 737 Max 8 was banned in countries around the world and the aircraft type was taken out of service.
Boeing says it has made progress with a software update in the digital emergency system of the aircraft type involved in the accident.
On Tuesday, the US aviation authority FFA announced that it believes the update is good enough to be put into operation.
