Frösö Zoo has packed up after 60 years and the hundreds of animals remaining in the area will be relocated.
– Among other things, three lions will be relocated, says owner Åke Netterström. The lions are difficult to place because there are so many on the market. But we have a placement in the works.
Åke Netterström says the goal is for the park to be empty before the fall. The greatest interest comes from Germany, Holland and France.
Other animals to be relocated include hyenas, Siberian tigers and zebras.
“It is our requirements that determine where the animals end up,” Netterström points out. “Not just anyone can take over the animals.”.
Frösö Zoo has been open for almost 60 years, but earlier this summer the owners announced that they were closing the business for good. The plan was to sell the park, but no buyer has shown interest.
Frösö Zoo has employed around 80 people during the summer seasons.
