United Airlines is lowering its third-quarter passenger revenue guidance, the company said in a statement. Revenue will fall into the mid-range of the previously reported range, down from previous guidance of the "high end," the company said.

American United Airlines has noted headwinds in China as a result of weaker demand trends, partly related to the unrest in Hong Kong, where large pro-democracy demonstrations have been ongoing for three months.

The airline predicts that passenger revenue will grow by 1.5 percent compared to the same period a year ago, the company writes. The growth range was 0.5-2.5 percent.
