Investment bank Carnegie has been hired to sell the Nordic part of travel giant Thomas Cook, which went bankrupt a few weeks ago, according to sources to Dagens Næringsliv.

According to Thomas Cook Northern Europe's communications manager Fredrik Henriksson, the company is well advanced in the process of selling.

”"We have several interested, potential buyers of the Nordic operations, and we have initiated a sales process that we expect will go quickly," he tells DN.no.

Fredrik Henriksson did not want to comment on the newspaper's information that Carnegie has contacted several potential buyers, including buyout funds, conglomerates and industrial players.

Venture capital firm Triton, which previously expressed interest in the company, did not want to comment on whether they are involved.

In addition to Ving, Thomas Cook's Nordic operations also include the tour operators Globetrotter, Spies, Tjäreborg, the airline Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia and the hotel company Hotels & Resorts in Thomas Cook Northern Europe.

Unlike the UK operation, the Nordic part of Thomas Cook is profitable. The Scandinavian part of the UK company reported an operating profit of £95 million last year.
