In the wake of the bankruptcy of parent company Thomas Cook, several offers have been received to acquire the entire Scandinavian tour operator and travel agency division, Thomas Cook Northern Europe, reports Finansavisen.

”"There have been over ten interested speculators who want to buy all of Thomas Cook Northern Europe and there have been some good offers," says Lisbeth Nedergaard, communications manager at Spies, one of the tour operators that, together with Ving, is part of the group.

At the same time, Ving's duty-free sales have been split off into a new company called Airshoppen Aps for a couple of days now. This is in order to have customers other than those included in Thomas Cook Northern Europe, according to Nedergaard.

Duty-free has long been an integral part of the Scandinavian airline. The name "Airshoppen" has existed for more than 30 years and is a familiar name for some charter travelers who pre-order duty-free online. Only now, when the charter group is up for sale, is the operation being separated into another company.

On Friday, Vinggruppen's CEO Lars Magnus Wikner registered as chairman of the board of Airshoppen Aps, writes Swedish Daily Newspaper.
