French aircraft manufacturer Airbus is close to winning a major order from low-cost airline Air Arabia. At least 100 aircraft are in the pipeline, according to Reuters news agency.
According to the news agency, Air Arabia, based in the United Arab Emirates, has held talks with both Airbus and American competitor Boeing about ordering new aircraft. According to Reuters, however, the airline has decided to give the order, which could amount to as many as 120 aircraft, to the European manufacturer. The deal could be presented next week at the Dubai Airshow.
Boeing has been in a minor crisis since the two crashes of its 737 Max 8 model that killed 346 people. Since then, several customers have dumped Boeing and ordered new planes from Airbus, including American Flyadeal, the Chinese government and Indian Indigo.
