The question of whether a fairy tale world with the Moomin trolls should be built on Skutberget in Karlstad has been a hotly debated issue.

Many are critical of the transformation of the outdoor recreation area, and security was increased ahead of the city council meeting on Thursday evening, as the municipality feared unrest. Proponents hope that Moominpark will become a tourist magnet.

After several hours of debate, the project received the thumbs up from a majority of members, local media reports.
