36.5 million passengers flew to and from Danish airports last year, which is a stagnant development compared to the previous year. At Copenhagen Airport Kastrup, the number of travelers decreased marginally, reports check-in.dk.

A number of factors are said to be behind the slowing development, although flight shame is not considered to have had an impact, according to the industry association Dansk Luftfart:

”"According to industry players, it cannot be unequivocally shown that increased climate awareness has had any significance for the stagnation in passenger traffic," says Per Henriksen at Dansk Luftfart to check-in.

However, the SAS strike last year plays a role, as does Norwegian's route review, they point out.

At Copenhagen Airport, which accounts for 85 percent of commercial air traffic in Denmark, the number of passengers decreased by 41,828, corresponding to a minus of 0.1 percent. The bankruptcies of Primera Air and WOW air played a role there, writes Check-in.
