China will stop all entry for foreigners starting Sunday, the country's Foreign Ministry announced on its website.

The ban applies to both people with entry visas and residence permits. The ministry writes that the stop is a temporary solution after reviewing how other countries have handled the situation. 

Until now, each area has had its own restrictions. In Beijing, the majority of new arrivals have been required to undergo a 14-day quarantine at designated locations.
