According to industry organisation SRG, nine out of ten travel agencies in Sweden are heading towards bankruptcy, reports SVT News.

The tour operators are caught between customers and suppliers, according to the industry.

"We have no sales, only expenses. We have to refund our customers while our suppliers do not refund us," says Cecilia Ärlebo, co-owner of a travel agency, to SVT.

SRF now wants the government to set up a loan fund so that travel companies can pay travellers.

Between January and May, the National Board for Consumer Disputes received 600 cases related to the coronavirus crisis.
