New message: Berlin airport remains open

Remove

The tours around Berlin and its various airports are a seemingly endless series.

The planned major airport Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg ”Willy Brandt” was originally supposed to open in 2011, but has been severely delayed, and is now expected to open its doors on October 31. Until then, it was intended that Berliners, and visitors to the German capital, would have to make do with the second airport Schönefeld, as the former main airport Tegel was to close in mid-June, as air traffic during the corona crisis has basically come to a standstill.

Now comes new news. The undersized but centrally located Tegel will be kept open until the new airport is operational, Germany's largest newspaper learns. Picture. The reason is stated to be that the number of passengers is expected to increase so much from mid-June that Schönefeld's limited capacity is not enough.

The announcement is expected to be official on Wednesday afternoon.
