Ängelholm Airport will continue to be operated – seven municipalities in northwestern Skåne plan to buy it.
The airport is operated by the construction company Peab, which announced at the end of May that it would be closed. But that is not going to happen.
The municipalities of Bjuv, Båstad, Helsingborg, Klippan, Höganäs, Perstorp and Ängelholm will form a joint ownership company and the plan is to complete the purchase in September, local media reports. The formal decisions will first be made within each municipality.
The municipalities will take over personnel and contracts with airlines and others, but not land and properties, reports P4 Malmö House.
”"We are starting on a smaller scale with at least one plane per day to and from Stockholm, but the goal is to expand operations over time. In the longer term, we are convinced that this airport can show black figures," says Helsingborg Municipal Board Chairman Peter Danielsson (M) to HD/Sydsvenskan.
