Swedish air travel continues at a very low level. In May, 98 percent fewer people traveled via Swedavia's airports compared to the same month last year. The decrease is due to the corona pandemic and was just as sharp in April.

”"The dramatic decline in air travel continued for the second consecutive month in May and several of our airports were essentially completely devoid of commercial air traffic," says Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of state-owned airport company Swedavia, in a press release.

During May, approximately 80,000 people traveled via the airports, but there is reason to expect an increase in the future, although it is expected to be modest.

”"As travel restrictions are now easing in Sweden and the rest of the EU, we are seeing early signs of a restart and that airlines are planning for a cautious increase in traffic," says Jonas Abrahamsson.
