The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is releasing its travel advice for ten countries within the EU and the Schengen area from June 30.
”"There has been a positive development within Europe," says Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) at a press conference.
The countries include Belgium, France, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Spain.
When the pandemic hit Sweden, it didn't take long before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an advisory to refrain from non-essential travel – which is currently in effect until July 15.
But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's advice is not a ban, but it is up to each person to make their own decisions.
Non-essential travel refers to sightseeing and tourist trips. There may still be trips that need to be made, for example, work trips that are important to society or travel to help a sick relative.
A new assessment will be made before July 15 regarding international travel.
When asked why they don't open up more to Norway and Denmark, Linde replies:
It's because you have these types of decisions, she says, mentioning quarantine regulations, among other things.
