
34 degrees in Skellefteå. It hasn't been this hot on a Swedish June day in 50 years.
– This is the warmest June temperature we have had since 1970 for the entire country as a whole, and also the highest temperature ever measured in northern Norrland in June, says Moa Hallberg, meteorologist at SMHI, to TT.
The sun was also shining in Gävle on Thursday. It was 30.6 degrees Celsius – the hottest June day since 1973. Further south, on Gotska sandön, it was also record-breaking hot.
On Friday, 29.3 degrees was measured, the highest June temperature the island has had in over 100 years. The last heat peak was recorded in June 1917, according to SMHI.
