As part of its reopening, Greece will begin allowing international flights to land from July 1. However, direct flights from the UK and Sweden will not be allowed until July 15.
Late Monday evening, both Tui and SAS stated that they had not received information about the stoppage.
This was announced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday, according to Bloomberg News.
According to the Independent newspaper, it is concerns about the widespread spread of the coronavirus in the two countries that are causing flights from Sweden and the UK to be stopped during the first two weeks of July.
”"The process of opening the borders is ongoing and there will be a constant evaluation of data," said Kyriakos Mitsotakis after a meeting with government officials ahead of allowing tourists to visit the country, according to the Bloomberg news agency.
Tour operator Tui, with a flight from Arlanda to Rhodes on Thursday, views the news as "unconfirmed information," writes TT.
”"We are currently awaiting information from Greek authorities," press contact Isabella Gharehdaghi told TT on Monday evening.
The airline SAS has several flights later this week to Athens and Thessaloniki from Arlanda. It is unclear what information awaits passengers.
”"This was new information for us. We are now seeking confirmation from official channels and will make a decision tomorrow (Tuesday)," says SAS press officer John Eckhoff.
