Sweden previously showed red on Germany's European map for countries affected by corona.
The previous travel warning for Sweden is now being lifted. And Swedes no longer have to quarantine upon arrival in Germany.
Germany is abolishing the requirement for a 14-day quarantine for people traveling from Sweden to Germany, the German Foreign Ministry writes on its website.
”"Entry to Germany from Sweden is possible for all travelers on all routes and without a well-founded reason," writes the German Foreign Ministry and continues:
”"The same applies to entry into Sweden from Germany.".
At the same time, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the advice against non-essential travel to Germany will be lifted as of Wednesday, July 15.
”It is a result of the quarantine easing that makes travel safer for Swedes,” says Catarina Axelsson, press communicator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
”"That is of course positive. But the situation is not as usual. Things can happen from day to day and a great deal of responsibility rests on the individual if they travel. There may be local restrictions and regulations that affect Swedish travelers."”
The German public health authority Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has published an updated list of 126 countries with quarantine requirements for entry into Germany, including the United States, Russia, India, Iran and Belarus. Sweden is not on the RKI's list.
At the beginning of June, the RKI posted a map of Europe on its website, where Sweden was the only country marked red due to a high number of new confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the last seven-day period.
The states of Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein decided a few days later to introduce quarantine regulations for those arriving from Sweden.
