People from Jämtland, Härjedalen, Sörmland, Uppsala, Örebro and Östergötland are now also welcome to Denmark. For Swedes who do not live in regions considered to have a low risk of infection, the border remains closed.
Denmark announces weekly changes to its entry permits due to the coronavirus crisis. Six additional counties are now considered to meet the Danish criteria for low risk of infection.
The Danish requirement is that the number of people infected with the virus disease covid-19 in a region should be below 20 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Denmark has previously opened the border to people from seven other Swedish counties – Skåne, Blekinge, Kalmar, Kronoberg, Halland, Värmland and Västerbotten – because they meet the criteria for low infection rates.
Anyone taking the ferry or bridge over to Denmark must remember to bring their passport or other valid identification, as well as proof of residence confirming that they live in one of the permitted regions.
For Danes, the advice to Sweden for non-essential travel continues to apply, unless it concerns travel to one of the permitted regions. Danes traveling to other parts of Sweden are recommended to stay at home in quarantine for 14 days after returning home. However, transit travel through Sweden is permitted, according to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
