The mountains attracted Stockholmers in July

Before the summer, increased vacationing to Swedish mountain resorts was predicted. With hindsight, this is partly true, according to traffic data from Telia. Härjedalen received more visits in July 2020 than in July last year.

Unlike most other travel destinations that have had fewer visitors, the number of travelers to certain mountain resorts increased this year. Travel to Härjedalen increased by 4 percent and activity in the region increased by 10 percent compared to last year.

– We can see that mountain holidays have been more common this year than other years, says Elin Allison, who works with data analysis at Telia and has compared July 2020 with July 2019.

Among Stockholmers, the increase in travel to Härjedalen is 27 percent, but travel has also increased from more nearby places such as Hudiksvall and Älvdalen.
