Anyone travelling from Sweden to parts of the UK will no longer need to quarantine upon arrival, UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced. England and Scotland have updated their travel advice, but it is not yet clear whether the change in rules will also apply to Wales and Northern Ireland.
The UK requires travelers from countries with high infection rates to quarantine upon arrival. A number of countries with low infection rates have been exempted, including Denmark, Norway and Finland. Now Sweden is also being added to that list.
The rule change will take effect from Saturday, September 12 at 4 a.m. Anyone arriving in the UK before then must still quarantine for fourteen days.
