The Viking Line ferry Amorella, which ran aground in the Åland archipelago on Sunday, is now being towed. Amorella left Långnäs at 6am this morning and is expected to arrive in Naantali in Turku in the evening. The journey is expected to take approximately 16 hours.

– We will investigate the accident. Among other things, we will investigate whether the fairway and its conditions had anything to do with the accident, says Veli-Pekka Nurmi at the Finnish Accident Investigation Board.

The investigation into how the accident occurred is expected to be completed in 1-2 months, the subsequent analysis after another approximately 9 months.

Viking Line estimates that the repair work on Amorella will take at least two weeks.

– We may be doing some other work at the same time, while we still have her ashore, says Johanna Boijer-Svanström, Director of Information at Viking Line.
