Last year, there was already an increase in people spending their holidays camping when they weren't planning to travel abroad. And anyone planning to go camping this summer may need to get out early.
– I have one or two seasonal spots left, says Tom Paulson, operations manager at Skokloster camping.
Several campsites in Uppsala County are now fully booked for the summer. The number of people calling the campsites is also high. One of the campsites that is fully booked is Skokloster Camping.
– This is what we are passionate about, we are just waiting for it to get going in full swing, says Tom Paulson, operations manager at Skokloster camping.
It was also full during Easter at Skokloster camping, which was a surprise to Tom Paulson.
– It was new that it was full at Easter and it was surprising considering the cold, he says.
Avoiding the spread of infection
Skokloster was not alone in being open already during Easter – one of the campsites that was also open was Siggefora camping. Catharina Hassarby is the owner of the campsite and has noticed that there is high pressure ahead of the summer but also that more people are camping during other seasons.
– There have been caravans and motorhomes during the winter too, and that is unusual, she says.
The high interest is positive for the campsites but also poses a risk of infection. Catharina Hassarby would like to see visitors take their responsibility to prevent the spread of infection at the campsite.
– I hope they respect the restrictions that exist and do not invade the service building and the store, she says.
