American airline Delta Airlines reports a quarterly report with lower sales and a larger loss than expected. However, cash flow in March was positive.

Revenue fell 58.0 percent to $3.61 billion (8.59). The outcome compares with Factset's analyst consensus of 3.94.

Adjusted earnings per share were -3.55 dollars (-0.51), which is worse than analyst consensus which was -3.17.

At the end of the period, the company had $16.6 billion in available cash, and in fact, March was cash flow positive. This is seen as a critical milestone in the recovery.

A significant sequential improvement is expected in the next quarter as demand increases ahead of the summer season.
