A suspicious bag caused the police to evacuate the entire Terminal 5 at Arlanda Airport. Just over three hours later, the object was found to be harmless and air traffic was able to reopen.
The bag was noticed by security guards shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday morning. They were unable to determine whether the object was harmless and police were called to continue investigating the bag's contents.
Shortly after 11 a.m., the announcement came that the object did not pose a threat.
The terminal was thus able to reopen and air traffic resumed.
During the coronavirus pandemic, all air traffic has been moved to Terminal 5. While the police were working, no planes were allowed to take off. The police also stopped road traffic and no cars were allowed to enter the terminal.
It is unclear what made the bag perceived as suspicious in the first place.
