At today's Annual General Meeting, Ann Nyström was appointed as the new Chair of the Board of Tourism in Skåne AB. Ann succeeds Peter Weinhandl, Airport Director Malmö Airport/Swedavia, who is stepping down after five years in the position.

Ann Nyström has been a member of the board for the past five years, then as a representative of Skåne's Municipalities. She has a solid background in tourism and destination development, including as a destination manager in Malmö, and as a hotel and restaurant entrepreneur.

 – Our board encourages us to be at the forefront of the development of Skåne as an innovative and sustainable destination. With Ann Nyström as chairman of the board, we look forward to continuing to build the business to take a leading role as a regional destination management company, says Pia Jönsson Rajgård, CEO of Tourism in Skåne AB.

In 2019, Tourism in Skåne AB prepared both a strategic roadmap for Skåne towards 2030, together with the public promotion system, and a business plan for the company. The main elements in these are the role of tourism in community development, where both residents and visitors contribute to tourism having a positive effect on the destination. To succeed, good conditions for innovation and joint efforts to balance visitor flows are required. In this work, the board plays an important role, by guiding the company with its perspectives from different areas.
