Minister of Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth (S) has received the investigation into the closure of Bromma Airport.
– Swedavia believes that it is no longer profitable to operate Bromma Airport, says Eneroth.
The materials from the investigator are submitted to both the government and the Riksdag.
The report is being presented after the government announced in April that it wants to quickly close Bromma Airport. If the airport is closed, it means that domestic traffic to and from the airport will be moved to Arlanda Airport.
According to investigator Magnus Persson, who has had three months to work on the investigation, he has had around 50 different conversations with various stakeholders.
– I have not been tasked with looking at Arlanda's long-term development. Nor have I been tasked with coming to a position on whether Bromma should be closed down or not, or with having my own forecast regarding the future of aviation.
However, he emphasizes that many airports are bleeding financially and need to change their operations.
Magnus Persson also emphasizes that it is international flights that will drive flying in the future.
– In the long term, it is globalization that will determine what type of flights we will have.
He also says that the government and parliament should be able to make a decision on Bromma Airport within a year. If a decision to close is made, it means that the airport could close in 2025-2027.
