Queues lasting several hours were created for check-in and security checks at Arlanda on Saturday. The delays resulted in around a hundred SAS passengers missing their flights, reports SVT.
Saturday was the first really big travel day before the upcoming Christmas holiday. This, combined with new pandemic-related document requirements and tightly packed departures in the morning, led to a major bottleneck at check-in at Arlanda.
The airline SAS went out and urged its travelers to be out in good time, but despite many being there three hours before departure, several people testified that they had missed their planes.
According to SVT, around a hundred SAS passengers missed their flights from Arlanda on Saturday. The airline states that SVT that everyone should have received help to rebook their tickets for other flights.
According to Ellen Laurin, press officer at the airport company Swedavia, the situation was significantly calmer on Sunday.
”"On Saturdays, "Traffic is much more concentrated in the mornings, when many people want to travel. On Sundays, traffic is more spread out. For those who are going to travel, the most important thing is to stay informed via their airline," she says.
