
American airline Delta Airlines reported higher-than-expected revenue in the fourth quarter. Adjusted earnings per share were also better than expected.
Revenue was $9.47 billion. This compares with the Factset analyst consensus of $9.02. In the fourth quarter of 2019, before the pandemic hit, revenue was $11.44 billion.
Adjusted revenue came in at 8.43 billion, compared to 11.38 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Adjusted earnings per share were $0.22, which is 37.5 percent better than the Factset analyst consensus of $0.16. In the fourth quarter of 2019, earnings were $1.70.
The company expects a loss in the current quarter, but also states that it is positioned for healthy profits in the quarters following and that the company is expected to make a meaningful profit in 2022.
