The Swedish Transport Administration has granted a loan of SEK 45 million to Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions (SDATS), a supplier of air traffic control, the authority announces on its website.

The loan is part of a larger program of government loans to air traffic companies, on behalf of the government, and is repayable. It must be repaid no later than January 1, 2027.

The companies' income usually comes from airlines, which pay a fee to use Swedish airspace. Revenues have, for familiar reasons, fallen sharply during the pandemic.

There are four players in air traffic control in Sweden. The government considers the survival of the companies to be important, among other things, to secure socially important air transport.

In the spring of 2021, another player, Aviation Capacity Resources (ACR), received a loan of SEK 119 million. The interest rate for that loan is one percent. For SDATS, the interest rate is two percent.
