The British airline Easyjet is gearing up for the summer with increased capacity and seeing increased demand for travel as the wave of infections from the omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus subsides.

During the current quarter, capacity will be increased to two-thirds of the capacity before the pandemic and by the summer, capacity will be almost normal, according to a statement from the company - which is led by Swede Johan Lundgren.

Easyjet – which competes in the low-cost segment with companies such as Ryanair and Wizz Air – meanwhile reported a loss of 213 million pounds for the first quarter of the broken financial year, which ended in December. The business was characterized by travel restrictions, which hit air travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

In the corresponding quarter a year earlier, Easyjet made a loss of £424 million.
