The Norwegian government is easing most of the current corona restrictions, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced at a press conference.

”"Today we have finally come to the point where we can remove many of the restrictions that we have lived with this winter. We now know that omicron causes less severe disease and that vaccines give many people in Norway good protection," says Gahr Støre.

Among the restrictions being lifted are all audience restrictions at cinemas and theatres. However, the government maintains the recommendation to keep a distance of one meter and to wear face masks in shops and on public transport if it is not possible to keep a distance.

”"We have entered a new phase of the pandemic, and we will have to live with a lot of infection, and we can live with a lot of infection. We have to tolerate most of us getting infected during the year, we can only ensure that not enough people get infected at the same time," says Gahr Støre.
