Portugal is easing its restrictions for people holding European Covid certificates by removing the requirement for a negative test before entering the country.

The EU's digital Covid certificate shows that the traveler is either fully vaccinated, has recently tested negative, or has recovered from Covid-19 in the past six months.

Since December, Portugal has required that travelers from the age of twelve be able to show negative tests before entering the country, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.

The spread of infection in Portugal has recently increased, just like in many other countries. The increase has been driven primarily by the highly contagious omicron variant.

On Saturday, over 41,000 new corona cases were reported in the country, and 44 deaths with covid-19.
