The government is lifting the entry ban from the Nordic countries and other EU and EEA countries as of Wednesday.
”"For those living and working in our border regions in the Nordic countries, this will mean great relief in everyday life," says Anna Hallberg (S), Minister for Foreign Trade and Minister for Nordic Affairs, to TT.
The decision was made at an extraordinary government meeting on Monday. It applies to 27 EU countries plus the EEA countries Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
”"Now we are going back to normal," says Anna Hallberg, speaking of "a day of joy for many.".
”"The decision is based on the Public Health Agency's assessment that entry restrictions from an infection control perspective are no longer a proportionate measure and that travelers to Sweden from EU and EEA countries no longer need to show any Covid proof but can enter the country in the usual way."”
TT: What about travelers from countries outside these areas?
”"When it comes to travel from so-called third countries outside the EU and EEA, we have always had joint decisions within the EU. We will also review the regulations for entry from third countries, but at present we have no information about that," replies Anna Hallberg.
For people traveling from countries outside the EU/EEA, the entry ban was extended last month until March 31, with the possibility of certain exceptions.
