Italy sees the end of restrictions

Remove

Starting on March 31, Italy will ease several of the country's tough virus restrictions.

– Our goal is to open up completely, as soon as possible, says Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

– The epidemiological situation has improved significantly, giving us the opportunity to remove the restrictions, Draghi said at a press conference in Florence.

In early January, Italy tightened the rules with the already introduced super health passports, rules that, together with a state of emergency, will apply until March. But there will be no extension and unvaccinated people who are now excluded from outdoor cafes and public transport, among other things, can soon return.

The restrictions will be lifted gradually, starting with outdoor activities. The face mask requirement will also be lifted.

To get the country's economy going, Draghi is promising around one billion Swedish kronor to the tourism industry and he says that the economic recovery plan opens up new opportunities.

– It is a historic opportunity to address the problems that have remained unresolved for decades, such as the lack of infrastructure or generational and gender differences, says Draghi. Source: TT
